Wanting to move from New Jersey to California for college. Advice

Wanting to move from New Jersey to California for college. Advice?
I'm currently going to be a junior in High School. I'm researching colleges already, and I have always had my heart set on California ever since I was a young girl. I am going to be majoring in Broadcast/Entertainment Journalism and minoring in Public Relations. I was extremely interested in Long Beach. A friend of mine goes there already, and he loves it. However, he's lived in California his entire life. Although I know that it is crazy to uproot my life and travel across the country for school, I don't want to miss my chance. My parents feel as though it is too far to travel (being as my sister goes to college in New Jersey). However, I do not want to miss the opportunity of a lifetime. Once college is over, reality sets in. I will do whatever it takes to make my dream come true. Does anyone have any advice on speaking with my parent and convincing them to let me go, finance, etc.? Any other advice concerning this topic is greatly appreciated as well. Thanks so much!

Answer 1 :
You should not try to convince them to fund study in Journalism. It's a dying field and a waste of tuition money. Many newspapers and magazines are folding. You have to be a Bimbo to get a job in broadcast/entertainment, and this requires cosmetic surgery รข€” certainly after the age of thirty.
Answer 2 :
If you really want to go to Cali for college, make sure that you can get a job there so you can pay your bills and make sure you will have a place to stay if the college doesn't have dorms.
Answer 3 :
Next week I will be driving from Washington state to Virginia for my school, and I am doing it alone. It will be an experience to either forget or remember. Why I decided to go over there? I realized that I wanted my degree faster and needed to do what is right for me. It is your future and your life. Exhaust your options where you are right now before making that jump of going across America.
